How Alana supports you

Alana’s role involves working closely with advisers to identify planning opportunities and prepare financial plans that support clients’ current and future goals.

Alana especially enjoys building cashflow models, helping bring financial plans to life and showing clients what their future could look like. In 2019, she was named Professional Paraplanner’s New Paraplanner of the Year.

Behind the scenes, Alana carries out research, analyses existing plans, and helps shape suitable recommendations for Lomond Wealth’s clients.

Qualifications

  • Level 4 Award in Pensions Update

    This single unit qualification develops and tests knowledge of pension reforms and how they impact at-retirement advice.

  • Level 3 Certificate in Financial Services

    This route develops knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry in general, including regulation and legislation, and the fundamental aspects of customer service, administration and marketing in financial services, and key retail investment products.

  • Certificate in Pension Transfer Advice

    This level 4 Certificate develops the in-depth knowledge and practical skills needed by anyone seeking to advise on the transfer of safeguarded benefits, an increasingly important part of the advice process following the Government's pension reforms.

  • DipPFS - Diploma in Financial Planning

    This level 4 diploma meets the FCA’s qualification requirements for retail investment advisers, demonstrating core technical knowledge and financial planning capabilities across six core areas.

  • R01 - Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics

    This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, including regulation, legislation and the Code of Ethics.

  • R02 - Investment Principles and Risk

    This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of investment products and the application of the investment advice process.

  • R03 - Personal Taxation

    This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of the UK taxation system, and the ability to analyse the taxation treatment of individuals and trusts during the investment advice process.

  • R04 - Pensions and Retirement Planning

    This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of and ability to analyse pension and retirement planning issues.

  • R05 - Financial Protection

    This qualification assesses a knowledge and understanding of and ability to analyse financial protection planning issues.

  • R06 - Financial Planning Practice

    This qualification helps advisers develop and demonstrate their financial planning capabilities.

When she’s not working with clients and colleagues, Alana loves travelling and exploring new places; in 2025, she and her partner Nathan took a career break to travel around Asia and Australia.

She also enjoys the gym, horse-riding, long walks with the family dog, Luna, and anything with a bit of adrenaline.
